Programs For Other Children

Nursery—Infant to 2 years old
Our nursery is staffed Sundays from 8:30
until 11:30 am. The purpose of our nursery
ministry is to provide a safe, loving, fun and
comfortable environment for both you and
your child.  To accomplish this you are
encouraged to help your child feel
comfortable with the nursery experience by
staying in the room as long as necessary.  
Our staff will walk, rock, read, feed and play
with the children to insure that they are
content.  

Kids Corner— 3 and 4 year
olds
Children will experience a bible story, craft,
snack and free play.  They will be following
the Bible Heroes along with the KOOL Kids
beginning with Abraham.  Since each child
develops at a different rate, we want parents
to decide if their child is ready to move from
the nursery into Kids Corner and likewise
from Kids Corner into KOOL.

Holy Cows—6th and 7th
graders
Holy Cows is our middle school group. They
use FaithWeaver Curriculum to engage in
conversation about choices and challenges
in life.  FaithWeaver helps youth make real-
life decisions as they face life's big
adventure.   In addition to Sunday morning, a
Fellowship Event is planned each much.
Kid’s Corner
is for 3 & 4
Year Olds
The Kid’s Corner
(formerly the 3 and
4 year old room) is
changing to accept
kids at the parent’s
discretion.  Since
each child develops
at a different rate,
we are leaving it up
to the parents to
decide when their
child is ready to
move from the
nursery into a more
structured
environment.  We
do ask that the
children be potty
trained (or really
close).  This group
of kids will be trying
out a new
curriculum called
“FaithWeavers”.  
This program is
published by
GROUP.  The fall
program will
introduce the kids
to several stories
from the book of
Genesis.

Welcome To KOOL—Pre-K
to 5th Grade
Kids of Our Lord is Sunday School for
children from Pre-Kindergarten  to 5th
Grade at Excelsior United Methodist
Church.  The KOOL program is
designed provide Christian Education
through a variety of learning tools known
as the Rotation Model.  Above all, they
will learn about God’s love for each and
every person.

What is Rotation Sunday
School?
In a rotational learning setting, the same
Bible story or theme is taught for several
weeks. The story or theme remains the
same, but the children encounter it in
different ways in each station. Repetition
is an important part of the rotational
learning style. The variety of
experiences keeps interest high
throughout the unit. Teachers teach the
same lesson, with age-level adjustments,
for the length of the rotation. At EUMC,
our themes vary from three to six weeks
in length.  Children are placed in groups
according to age.

K.O.O.L. Rotation Stations

Angels’ Music
This station includes such activities as
singing, dancing, moving, and making
and using instruments. In this station,
children can experience how music
makes the heart dance and how
movement is the soul at play.

God’s Gallery
The art station allows the creative artist
to emerge from each child.  Most times
they will create something to bring home,
but sometimes children will create crafts
for mission projects.

Gospel Games
Children will play a variety of learning
games, ranging from lively large-motor-
skill games to quiet interactive games.  
When the weather is appropriate, these
games may take place outside.

Loaves and Fishes Café
The class will prepare food first and then
have an opportunity to hear the Bible
story and participate in other activities
while the food is in the oven.

Miracles Science Lab
The science station may include
research, experiments, geography,
physical sciences, or social sciences.
Through exploration of God’s world, the
mystery and awesomeness of God is
revealed.

Mountain Top Movies
Video is a powerful medium that quickly
commands the attention of children.
While viewing videos is a passive
activity, this station has been carefully
designed so children have opportunities
to interact with the story. The videos
may be Bible stories, or they may be
secular films that deal with the theme of
the unit.

All Ages Activity
During these Sundays, all children in the
KOOL program will be together for a
large group activity.  These activities are
led by volunteers and youth helpers.
